(Sarasota, FL) The Bradenton Gladiators showed why it has the number one offense in the FFA with a convincing 42-6 victory over its cross-county rivals the Sarasota Millionaires Saturday night at Booker High School’s Tornado Alley.
The first quarter belonged to Sarasota when Dennis Watson picked off a Millard Dawson pass and ran it back 55 yards for a touchdown six minutes into the game. The Millionaires defense recovered two Bradenton fumbles and prevented an offensive touchdown for the 11 straight quarter. After that, the Gladiators potent offense kicked into gear and took command.
Bradenton scored 42 unanswered points beginning with Chauncey Jones two yard touchdown run with three minutes left in the first half to give the Gladiators the lead for good. Less than one minute later, Demetrius Craddock recovered a fumble and rumbled into the end zone to make it 14-6. Glenn Woods added another touchdown with 41 seconds left in the quarter on a 1 yard run giving the Gladiators a 21-6 lead at halftime.
Chauncey Jones and Glenn Woods would score additional rushing touchdowns in the second half and Chris Kastor recovered a fumble for an additional score to maintain the Gladiator’s status as the top offense in the Florida Football Alliance and maintain its undefeated record at 3-0 atop the AFC West division.
The Millionaires, now 2-2, have a much needed bye week next Saturday and will prepare to take on the Florida Falcons on February 20th in Middleburg, FL.
Sarasota unveiled its new green jerseys in Saturday’s game vs. Bradenton. The team also added a gold stripe down the middle of its helmets.
Josh Kilduff, who was taken to a Ft. Myers hospital last week with a neck injury, was on the sidelines wearing a neck brace supporting his teammates.
The Millionaires travel to Middleburg to face the Florida Falcons on Saturday February 20th in a 7PM kickoff.
