THE PLAYERS TO HOST EVERYONE’S FAVORITE ORPHAN “ANNIE”
Sarasota, November 30 – The Players Theatre is excited to open its third show of the Broadway Season with the endearing classic “Annie”. This show is the story about the ever hopeful 11-year-old Annie (played by Hannah Beatt) and her dog Sandy (played by Holly the dog) who are off on an adventure to find her parents. Set in the middle of the great depression, this delightful and heartwarming musical is just as inspiring as it was when it opened in 1977. Written by Thomas Meehan, it has been nominated for 11 Tony Awards.
It is being led by a strong creative team including Director/Choreographer Bob Trisolini and Musical Director Bobby Brader with Leona Collesano as Stage Manager. The set will be designed by Michael A. Gray and lights by David M. Upton.
The all-star cast is comprised of Jgar Hellwig as Daddy Warbucks, Shelley Whiteside as Grace Ferrell, and Terri Solomon as Miss Hannigan. Orphans are played by Eva Bayer, Kaity Cairo, Samantha Crawford, Emma Diner, Sarah Johnson, Amanda Lade, Lily Mancini, Jillian Park, Alanna Rife, Grace Roe, Lilly Mae Stewart, Claudia Young.
Additional stars include: Scott Vitale as Rooster, Savannah Clair as Lily, Chip Fisher as Bert Healy, Savannah Carpenter, Antoinette Gagliano, Jenny Solomon as the Boylan Sisters, Bill Cairo as Howe, and the ensemble consisting of April Barnwell, Tyler Brown, Jeff Carlson, Charles Craig, Donna Culbreth, Laurie Diner, Ruthe Fonfrias, Maddie Hazuda, Kristi Hibschman, Carol Nelson, Shaune Park, Lee Schlesinger, Julie Stewart, Lyn Wiley. Carson Rudolph and Jakob Silver play newsboys.
“Producing ‘Annie’ at our theatre is a no brainer, it’s clear to me as I see the classes here at the theatre that there is talent and energy ABOUNDING!” said Jeffery Kin, Artistic Director. “How can you not look at one of our dance classes or youth acting classes and not say ‘How can I harness THIS?’ So, the idea of the musical Annie gracing our stage for the holidays was an easy one. Our audiences are going to be ANNIE-struck!”
Due to overwhelming ticket sales the show has already been extended past its original December 16th date to include December 19 & 20 at 7:30 p.m. and two additional matinees on December 22 & 23 at 2:00p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $12 for students. Subscriptions and gift certificates always make a great gift during the holiday season!
