Yeah, Steve is the preferred way that Stephen J. Cannell likes to be addressed. The prolific giant of TV series looks just as he did on the closing credits of his many series - down to the turtleneck shirt. He suffered and suffers with dyslexia. It could be said that it provided the motivation for him to succeed. After suffering much embarrassment in school, he finally found a professor/mentor who convinced him that he had writing talent. After squeaking by to graduate from college, he spent… Continue

I'm very glad to see how this video came out. It was shot in my home town of Anna Maria Island, Florida. My buddy Tim works at the gas station opening. The video was shot all around the Island and part of Bradenton. My buddy Logan was the girls girlfriend sitting on the bench with the girl. Reppin' Anna Maria Island. :D

I have finally decided that I needed some motivation to get me to paint regularly again! Hard to believe I used to paint every single day., which is what I am supposed to do since I am a member of the Daily Painter's Gallery
. (See link below.)
So I've decided to sign up for a couple workshops at Art Center Sarasota. The first one starts Wednesday with my friend, Julie Hanson. I love Julie's classes. She's a wonderful teacher and her liberal use… Continue

Last weekend I did another Murder Mystery Dinner. This time at a country club across the state. They even put us up in motel rooms after the show - which was a real blessing. I don't think I could have roared back to Osprey after putting so much energy out there. I had a dual role of playing the Security Guy, DB DuMoss, and his twin, a bit slow, brother LB DuMoss. All it took was a change in costume after DB was "killed." Interacting with the party-goers, in character, was challenging and fun.… Continue

Opening Night of the Manatee Players' production of Meredith Wilson's "The Music Man" - director Scott Keys has put together a fabulous ensemble cast of local talent in all age ranges to portray the gullible but extremely lovable River City townsfolk.
I loved singing along with the big ensemble dance numbers and thoroughly enjoyed Keys' choreography: "Ya Got Trouble", "The Wells Fargo Wagon", "Shipoopi", and of course the… Continue

The trouble with Broadway....
I have no problem with musicals being derivative. They always have been; Oklahoma
, regarded as the first modern musical, was based on the play Green Grow the Lilacs
, My Fair Lady
was based on Pygmalion
, West Side Story
was a retelling of Romeo and Juliet
(which itself used the same plot as earlier works), etc.
But here's the problem: the train of thought used to be, "Let's base a musical on Don… Continue

The jurors (Connie Allegra of Sarasota Interior Design, Joan McGee of Serendipity Gallery, and Vicki Chelf, artist extraordinaire) had a most difficult time of making selections.
The "Critique Night" is Thursday, January 8th, from 6 pm to 8 pm. Artists who were selected or not can hear the thought process of the jurors, find out… Continue
