Profile Information

A little about me (so that you know I am a real person and not a spammer!)
After a long career in the performing arts , Maryanne began to paint in 2006 after an unexpected move to Florida provided some leisure time to pursue long-forgotten interests. Maryanne is the former Artistic Director of the West Chester Ballet Theatre, and regional director of The Rock School West. Although primarily self- taught, Maryanne has enjoyed studying painting under Jon Greeley, Julie Hanson, Hodges Soileau and Rob Liberace. She has a unique style, that combines elements of contemporary impressionism with fauvism and realism.

Colle Verde Vineyard- Tuscany, 16x20-$575 framed

The above painting won an honorable merit award at The Venice Art Center's recent Spring all -media exhibit. It is now on display at The Back Eddy Bistro , along with 12 other of my original oil paintings.

Last week I was able to hang my solo exhibit at The Back Eddy Bistro in downtown, Venice. I was invited to do the exhibit… Continue

"Very French"-Art Helping Children

"Very French", 8x10

I painted this last week on Earth Day (that's why it's so green!) and decided that it's quirky enough that some people would love it. For that reason, I posted it on ebay at a low starting bid of only $9.99 to attract additional bids. ALL of the proceeds for this painting will be donated back to The Children's Defense Fund, a non-profit children's advocacy group out of Washington D.C.

If you would like… Continue

"Passages of Light and Shadow", 9x12, oil on linen

I started this painting last week during the paint-out , but was unhappy with the color of the first notes so I put it aside. So I didn't finish it until yesterday, and now I feel a little better about it. I was struck by the little sliver of light that was apparent for only about 30 minutes in this side garden in downtown Venice. The house is on Venezia Park, in the historic… Continue

thoughts of sparrows, migration and missions

Posted on March 2, 2009 at 11:36pm 2 Comments

I am glad that the Paint-Out in Paradise went well last week, and is over. We had decent weather, though it was inconsistent from day to day. Last night the hubby and I watched the sparrow migration over on Laurel Road in Venice. It was simply awesome! That got me to thinking about Mission San Juan

Capistrano in California where the sparrows also migrate in March. I was there two years ago and have been yearning to go back. Today I painted the mission… Continue

Hi Maryanne, thank you! I love your vibrant style & color in your paintings! I understand about working Real Estate, it's not fun like working art. My goal with Real Estate is still to create an International Art center and retirement community, but it's going to be awhile with these times. Did I meet you when the Venice Art center had a booth at the Chamber of Commerce meeting about 6 weeks ago? Or at the Englewood Art center when I was teaching classes there? Look forward to getting some classes going in Venice and meeting you sometime. Best wishes
