Stuart Woods

Posted on October 4, 2008 at 12:38am 0 Comments

The novelist, Stuart Woods was the guest of honor and speaker Friday when the Friends of Selby Library held a luncheon at Michael's On East.

Naturally, I was there. I just had to know more about the author who's kept me up night after night, and kept my money going for book after book of his.

I asked him how he spends a typical work day. He said he writes "from 11 until 12" and then he goes for lunch and plays with his various toys - - from his power boat to his airplane.

I didn't know about Stuart, no. I already have an appointment at an employment agency to take their skills tests late morning, darn it. Otherwise, that sounds like fun. My Office Manager position came to an end last week so I'm attempting to find another job (to help pay the mortgages).

I adored your mystery article, and yes, Stone is a good friend although being happily married that's as far as it goes. Your list of other good mystery authors is right on, but you might want to check out Sarah Paretsky, Stuart Kaminsky (from Sarasota), Michael McGarrity, James Lee Burke and Nevada Barr to name a few of my other "friends." Now, Robert Parker --- don't tempt me.

Yes - - put me down in ink. I'd love to do a "What are you reading" segment for October 2nd. I'll have it all to you asap so I don't forget!
Thanks for asking me.
And, yes, I'm sending invitations to all in GM plus a few others.

Hi June,
Could you please invite all of your Gloria Musicae friends to join this site? The more the merrier and the better to spread the word.

Also, would you like to do our newsletter's "What Are You Reading?" segment for the October 2 issue? We need 350ish words, a headshot and a two line bio of you. Let me know; I have you down in pencil!

Thanks, Rick

June you have been a marvelous addition too our cultural tapestry. Your charm has infected our slice of paradise, then again, one who loves poodles just hasta be congenial.

You are of course absolutely correct. When I got the e-mail regarding this site I was highly suspect as I am with most most stuff on the internet--but then I really liked the newsletter they used to send so I went ahead. The picture is one of the first things you have to put on the form so I grabbed whatever I could find. As I got into it I decded it was for real and got more serious. After one day as a member I think it is a great idea.

I don't know whether to find a new picture or find a job as a tuxedo salesman.

My wife and I have taken several of your classes which we always enjoy.

We are currently in the process of selling our lake house in the Finger Lakes and moveing permanantly to Sarasota. We have lived there and/or spent summers there for 36 years so it is not an easy task.

Hi June,

Thanks for joining us. We are still tweaking the site and will release it to the public by Monday. Meanwhile, feel free to invite all the singers in Gloria Musicae to join and create personal pages. You may also create a Group for GM and have a place where all the singers can be seen together and easily communicate with the public. For the matter, you can also create a second group, maybe GM2, and it could be set as private so that your director can communicate in private with notes and schedules. The calendar is also very easy for your concerts.

Anyway, welcome.
